What happens if I’m not league registered?

You don’t need to be league registered to enter any of our races. Just enter the race via British Cycling and then turn up on the day. We’ll lend you a number with a timing chip. We’ll just take your race license/£10 deposit from you and give it back to you when you hand the number back. You’ll be gridded at the back of your category. You can still earn BC points if you have a full race license but you can’t earn league points to qualify for overall position at the end.

Entry is available on the day each organiser will publish whether they are accepting cash/card for payment.

I’m league registered, anything I need to know?

You’ll get your number with chip attached at the first event you attend of the season. You need to enter each separate event that you want to race via British Cycling. You’ll earn points on certain finish positions, in that in order to qualify for overall league standings, riders must be league registered, and compete in a minimum of 5 out of 9 rounds, with the best 7 scores going towards the overall result. An email with your number will be sent out to you in the week before the first event. If you don’t receive an email then just get in touch with us.

I’ve emailed but haven’t received a response yet – what do I do?

The league is run by volunteers who also have full time jobs. As you can imagine we’re very busy but will always check emails before an upcoming event so please be patient. If your query is about the event itself get in touch with the listed event organiser on BC.

How do I enter an event?

Both league registered and non-league registered riders should enter each event that they want to ride via British Cycling. All our events will be listed under this link: https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events?series_id=290

We are accepting on the day entries but we would prefer pre-entries where possible, these close on the Wednesday night before the race. This is because it makes it a lot easier for the team on the day but also helps to avoid too many people gathering in one area.

You must have signed in/entered at least 15 minutes before your (or your child’s) race to enable all the admin to be done for our chip timers. Allow yourself plenty of time as there is usually a queue, especially before our morning races. If you are racing in race 5 please try and avoid signing on just before someone else’s race!

Gridding

League registered riders will be gridded. For the first event this will be done based on national points and the league standings from the 2024/5 season. The gridding will update after each round.

If you have any queries speak to the commissaire on the day.

How many rounds count for the league?

You need to ride a minimum of 6 out of the 10 rounds and the regional championships is also a counting round!

To qualify for overall league standings, riders must be league registered, and compete in a minimum of 6 out of 10 rounds, with the best 8 scores going towards the overall result. The two really important headings: No. Races – if you are in green then you’ve done enough races! (always room to improve though…) Best 7 Round Total Score – your 8 best scores added up to give you your overall. Standings can be found here: https://swcx.org/wordpress/league-standings/

If you volunteer at an event you will get average points awarded for this so that you don’t miss out! You can do this up to 2 times.

Pits

Individual event organisers will confirm any additional facilities available for this. Please be aware of other people’s personal space and try to give more room than usual.

Pits are for pit crew not spectators!

Prizes

As with many other leagues around the country there are no on the day monetary prizes, but organisers will be giving their own prizes for Podiums that will still take place on the day to recognise the top 3 for each category!

Spectators

We love having spectators at our events. Spectators should be respectful of the riders and the course at all times. No spectators should be in the pits or in the way of the lap counters

How can I help out?
